So who am I and why am I writing starting this blog? Basically it boils down to the fact that I've been a gamer for a good decade of my life (pretty much 50% give or take a few). And recently I have started to transition away from super competitive games, think League of Legends, CS GO, Overwatch. Within each one of these games (and others!) I have achieved what you might understand as rankings within the top percentiles of the game. Here's the list:
1. World of Warcraft: Rank 1 in the 2v2 Arena Bracket in the most competitive European Battlegroup cyclone. Season 7 - 2850 Rating
2. League of legends: Diamond 1 on both EU Nordic East & EU West. On top of that I Won a few local lans and tournaments hosted by the University of Bath. - Where I studied.
3. Counter Strike Global Offensive: Global Elite on 3 Accounts at the same time
4. Hearthstone: Rank Legend on EU back in Autumn 2014.
5. Overwatch Rank 74 In season 1
So whats all this worth in the real world? you would probably guess that nothing really. In some sense you would be right since it's not something that I would talk about in my job interviews or something that I'll brag about in front of a girl i'm hitting on. However I'm pretty sure that this will change in a matter of years and that perhaps your league of legend rank might not only get you some bragging rights within a group of friends but also might have some effects outside. More on this later in the blog!
Going back to my intentions for this blog and why I'm posting this:
Over the years I have acquired a particular set of skills and techniques for getting better at competitive multiplayer games while being relatively successful. I've also utilized certain practice regimes that have allowed me in some sense skip the necessity of having to put grueling long hours into a game before seeing some actual results. Finally, I have come to understand certain themes that are common in almost any online gaming environment but also transcend the online arena and can be applied in the real world around us.
So if you are interested in any of these topics and want to RankUp - stay tuned for weekly posts!
